Willkommen auf Deutsch
Hallo and welcome to German classes at East Otago.
Language learning relies on 4 main skills. These are Listening, Reading, Speaking, and Writing. Listening and Reading are receptive skills, and Speaking and Writing are productive skills.
By the end of this year, you should be able to use these skills to:
1.1 Greet, farewell and thanks people, and respond to greetings, farewells and thanks
1.2 Introduce yourself and others and respond to introductions
1.3 Communicate using days of the week, months and dates
1.4 Communicate about personal information, such as name, age, nationality and home
1.5 Communicate about location
1.6 Understand and use a range of politeness conventions (for example, ways of thanking people, apologising, excusing themselves, complimenting people)
1.7 Use and respond to simple classroom language (including asking for the word to express something in German).
2.1 Communicate about relationships between people
2.2 Communicate about ownership
2.3 Communicate about likes and dislikes, giving reasons where appropriate
2.4 Communicate about physical characteristics, personality, and feelings
My expectations for learning German are that:
· You always try your best
· You support each other’s learning
· You enjoy yourself
Vocabulary is an important part of learning a language and you will have to learn set vocabulary each week through the computer programme Languagenut (link below). This vocabulary homework will be set each Friday and you will be tested each Friday. If you are having difficulty with the programme or computer access you need to see me during our Wednesday lesson before the test on Friday.
Remember, the more you put in the more you will enjoy success and a feeling of progress. I look forward to working with you.
Viel Spaß!!!
