Outcome bringing to an end the war of movement that had dominated the. the Battle of the Marne was fought between Germany and the allies of France and Britain.The French and British had just over 1,000,000 soldiers including six French armies and one British army. The French were led by General Joseph Joffre and the British by General John French. The armies on both sides of the First Battle of the Marne suffered heavy casualties. The Allies had around 263,000 soldiers hurtl including 81,000 that died. Around 220,000ol Germans were injured or killed. here were two major battles fought by the Marne River near Paris, France. The Second Battle of the Marne was fought four years later in 1918 between July 15th and August 6th.
